Water Babies

Sweet water pixie

Perfectly dressed for an afternoon lounging by the pool.

I am not so sure I want to get in after all.

I suppose the boat is kind of fun.

Captain Lorelai!

Kellen contemplating the scientific properties of water.

We had a blast, but alas it is time to go.

What do you mean we have to leave? I was having so much fun! Ok, if you say so, but first I will give you "the look".

A tale of gastronomic proportions:

I am a California Culinary Academy flunky! Well not literally, but I might as well be. I do not fancy myself a great cook by any stretch of the imagination, but I do like to cook and I have fun doing it. Even while having two toddlers running about I still try to excercise my culinary creativity and make some interesting dinners on occasion. Sometimes I just add my own touches to an already trusted recipe and other times I try a new one. Usually, I have good luck...today that wasn't to be the case!

This morning I pulled out my Italian Cooking at the Academy cookbook with the aspirations of making a memorable dinner for my family. I chose a homemade sundried tomato pasta recipe that I was going to pair with a great homemade sauce using herbs from my garden. It sounded good, but after food processing the ingredients together, while balancing Kellen on my hip, what I had was a big unappetizing brown blob.

"Poo-poos" says Kellen as he points to the mass, then Lorelai comes into the kitchen climbs up onto a chair nearby and exclaims "yuckies" while scrunching up her face. Is this a sign? *sigh* It didn't get any better either after letting the blob rest, rolling it out and even cooking up a batch of sample "noodles". Let me just say that my version of homemade pasta was utterly and completely awful! For now my pasta making days are over. I will leave the work to those nice people over at Dreamfields.

So, how does one salvage such a disaster? Ask the husband to bring home take-out and make him homemade lemon bars instead (or were those lemon bars for my own culinary ego?) : )
